Stayed over a month.
We loved our stay with Demetra. She is a genuinely caring and responsive host, and her family was warm and respectful throughout. The home was spotless on arrival, felt very safe, and the outdoor areas are well-maintained. The neighborhood is peaceful and family-friendly, with local shops and groceries just a ~5-minute walk away, which made day-to-day needs easy. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen had what we needed for simple meals. Getting around the city was straightforward, and the location worked well for a longer stay.
Overall, an excellent experience—clean, comfortable, and well looked after by a thoughtful host. We’d happily stay here again and highly recommend Demetra’s place.

Stayed over a month.
I was already in New York from California when another place I booked was not habitable. I messaged Demetra and she made the effort to get her place ready for same day arrival. She made a parking space available for us which that alone is worth everything. I had late night events and being able to come home and park in a driveway was so appreciated. The home was spacious with comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. This is located in a historic family neighborhood. It was perfect for our needs as remote workers and project collaborators. We had quiet time to work during the days and a peaceful place to come home to after a busy night in time square. We stayed for a month. It’s it perfect for a home base even as we stayed over night in Manhattan a couple of times. The commute to Times Square and Manhattan was about 35-50 mins depending on time of day. Demetra is an excellent host and made sure we knew we could reach out to her anytime. I highly recommend her place.

Arts & Culture
  • College Point itself is a city with long history. Take a quick visit to the Poppenhusen Institute to find out the historical progress of the city thoughout the years.
  • The Queens Museum is dedicated to presenting high quality arts and educational programming for the people of New York, and particularly the residents of Queens, a uniquely diverse ethnic, cultural, and international community. The Museum’s work honors the history of our site and the diversity of our communities through a wide ranging and integrated program of exhibitions, educational initiatives, and public events.
  • The Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) is the only museum in the U.S. that explores the central technology of the present moment. Screens are all around us. With ground-breaking education programs, digital literacy initiatives, and cutting-edge media labs, MoMI is not just a museum but also a place where we can all make sense of the forces and experiences that create our shared reality. MoMI is an open world in the heart of both Astoria, NYC, and our entire creative community.
  • Located in Queens — America’s most diverse county — The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) is committed to creating a world where everyone can contribute to scientific discovery and innovation, and where people learn to use science, technology, engineering, and math to tackle complex 21st century challenges.

NYSCI is more than a world-class destination for learning and play. It is where exhibits inspire visitors, where young scientists get their start, where community members come to learn, and where critical STEM education research occurs.

Shows & Entertainment

Shows and entertainment abandon in Queens and the surrounding Flushing area. Outdoor & Adventure
  • Located at the northeast corner of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Flushing, Queens Botanical Gardens evolved from the five-acre “Gardens on Parade” exhibit showcased at the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair. Officially opening as “The Queens Botanical Garden Society” in 1946 after local residents saved and expanded the original exhibit, the Garden remained at the original World’s Fair site until 1961, when it was moved to its current location on Main Street in Flushing. Among the original plantings taken from the 1939 site are two blue atlas cedars that frame the iconic tree gate sculpture at the Garden’s Main Street entrance today. QBG has become a 39-acre oasis in one of New York City’s most bustling and diverse neighborhoods.
  • The Fort Totten Park, located along the Cross Island Parkway off Totten Avenue between Totten and 15th Roads in the Queens neighborhood of Bay Terrace, is named for the modernized Civil War fortress in which it resides. Originally inhabited by the Matinecock Indians, the neighborhood of Bayside was first settled during the American Revolution. This site was first named Willets Point, but later renamed for General Joseph Totten (1788-1864) who died in Washington, D.C. in 1864.  In June of 2001 plans were proposed for the recreation of a restaurant, snack bar, promenade, swimming pool, soccer fields, sitting and strolling areas, a waterfront esplanade, and additional visitor parking areas. Fort Totten Park is also home to a “Greenway,” a park area designated exclusively for Bicyclers and pedestrians.
Day Trips - Shopping

Day trips are easy to schedule either in advance or last minute. Take quick commute to Manhattan to visit museums, the sites, go for shopping or enjoy the variety of dishes of this megalopolis.

Shorter day trips you can take are to nearby Flushing Meadows Corona Park, where you can enjoy Tennis events like the US Open, Ice Skating, Swimming, rent Paddleboats, Excersise or simply enjoy the nature.

If shopping is your thing there are many Malls and Shopping Centers that offer deep discounts for seasonal and off season apparel and home goods. Some are located within walking distance or ten minutes away, and other larger ones, from half hour to 2 hours away, but still within a day’s outing.
